Where is it?
Part of The Shakespeare Hotel on Chapel Street in the centre of town.
What is it?
A bar and brasserie, serving modern European and traditional English cuisine.
What makes it different?
After successfully spending all our wedding money in The Montpellier Gallery, we came out onto the street feeling very hungry and ready for lunch. There it was - Othello’s. Within five seconds, we were at our table.
It was very quiet (as we were late for lunch) so we were able to grab a seat in the window and watch the world go by. There was a great selection on the menu to suite all tastes. I was so hungry though, I went for my favourite comfort food of cheese baguette and a bowl of chunky chips!
My husband was a little more adventurous and tried three of the tapas dishes: mushrooms with goat’s cheese, little sausages (from Barry the butchers across the street) and Calamari. The service was prompt and friendly although we lost her when it was time to pay the bill! The food was really tasty and the chunky chips were great although the one bowl was probably enough for about four people!
The tables are set in a large spacious room, tastefully decorated with a modern gothic theme and ‘chill-out lounge music’ in the background. All very cool.
So, although a very spontaneous choice for lunch, it (metaphorically speaking), hit the nail on the head. I think we’ll be back for dinner.
