Our experience
Having missed the breakfast at the hotel after our friends wedding, we staggered into Stratford in need of a hearty feed. After finding our recent favourite place to be closed, we wandered aimlessly into the centre of town and happened upon a little café which has changed hands so many times, I had lost track as to what it actually was. It now operates under the name of Mckechnies.
Happy to see one of my ex pupils friendly faces behind the counter, we ordered two full English breakfasts and coffees (decaf and regular). We propped ourselves in the quiet corner of the room and poured through the local paper as our plentiful plate of toast arrived. I normally view toast as purely an accompaniment to savoury food, but it came served with the most delicious strawberry jam which just had to be appreciated. Chunky granary toast too- and plenty of it. Our breakfast came really swiftly and was very tasty - but nothing fancy. Good quality and good value for money. Knowing the waiter's love for music, we were also very happy with the background tunes. All in all it was the perfect place to recover. Chilled out……and not busy, perfect. CV - 10/08
