Where is it?
On Wood Street close to the American fountain. What is it?
What is it? One of a small chain of Italian restaurants, newly replacing Café Uno in town.
What makes it different?
Very child friendly.
Our experience
Having the wonderful opportunity to look after my three and a half year old niece for the evening, I promised I would take her out for a ‘grown up dinner’.
We agreed to meet my husband after work in the new Italian in town. It looked cheap and cheerful and advertised kids meals for £4.75. Perfect.
As soon as we had sat down, our friendly waiter brought Jess colouring - in sheets and crayons. She was engrossed until her olives (strange child) and then pizza arrived . The pizza was very large for a child’s portion so the adults were able to help out. Very tasty. It came with good fresh orange juice and the most delicious Italian ice cream (two scoops) to follow.
Meanwhile we dined on the squid and whitebait starter, then the meatballs and spaghetti and the ‘Involtini alla Griglia’ (mushrooms wrapped in lamb with lemon risotto). All very fresh, tasty and very good value for money. We also had a sneaky sip or two from a carafe of Valpolicella which was very palatable.
The restaurant has been lightened up a little with fresh paint and a more modern décor. The service was extremely friendly and efficient…….and Jess had such a WONDERFUL time that we had to ring Mummy and tell her. That’s good enough for me!
