Where is it?
Sheep Street (in the centre of town). What is it?
One of a large chain of French Restaurants in the UK. What makes it different? A little bit of France in the middle of Stratford!
Our experience
With the boys playing golf, my friend, baby and I decided to make the most of being awake early on a Saturday morning and walked into town to have breakfast. It was a case of who would open up first and we shortly found ourselves seated in Café Rouge.
I would never have thought of coming here for breakfast so I was quite surprised to see a very extensive breakfast menu and all served up until midday.
We ordered a coffee, tomato and grapefruit juice to drink and then after much deliberation (it really was a good menu) opted for the full English breakfasts- one with poached and one with scrambled eggs.
It was lovely to see a full English with a twist. The bacon was beautifully grill marked, the toast was brioche and the scrambled eggs were cooked just as I like them. I normally have to ASK for them to be soft like this. We had a lovely morning, with the place almost to ourselves. It has a huge seating area, carefully broken up into separate rooms so you can almost guarantee a table, but still have a level of intimacy.
Before we knew it, the boys had rung, golf was finished and it was time to go home. We paid the very reasonable bill and headed back to the car. A perfect start to the day….Vraiment délicieux!
