This might not serve food and it might be considered a locals pub, but the landlord and his staff are excellent fun people and you will get more laughs in here than most of the pubs in town. Give it a go, if you want food there is a good chinese and dominos pizza close by.

Excellent breakfast - quality local food cooked perfectly. Friendly staff and a beautiful historic building and atmosphere. Will definitely return to sample the delicious looking cakes and pastries. A very pleasant change from some of the 'tourist trap' cafes which don't offer very good value for money.

While on a day out in Stratford yesterday with my wife,Son and his girlfriend, we came across this attractive looking pub!
Having bought drinks and checked the menu we ordered food. After a fairly long wait the starters arrived. So far so good, tasty, good portions although a bit of dressing on the side salad would have been nice.
Mains arrived. My wife had Salmon, very tasty but the boiled potatoes were brownish inside in places. I had a meat & ale pie with chips. Very bland, with little meat in s sizeable portion with a crust as hard as nails. No wonder it came with a small jug of gravy . The chips were tasteless but edible. My son had a chicken breast portion wrapped in pastry, a bit dry and the same aweful chips, girlfriend had scampi, petit pois and yes you guessed it aweful, tasetless chips. Compared to my local not good! But I guess that is what you get in a chain dealing with large numbers. Staff seemed attentive enough.
Would I go again? No.

This restaurant gives the initial impression of quality and style and we expected to pay a premium.
We had Sunday lunch there and it was one of the best meals we've had for ages. Perfectly cooked local produce and presented beautifully. Pricewise, it compares favourably with many other restaurants in the town and in fact I think is far better value as the quality of the food and surroundings is superior to most other restaurants. 3 courses for £23 or 2 courses for £19. Excellent - 10 out of 10

We had a take away meal from Must Go last Sunday - and were very disappointed. The pancake rolls seem to get hotter each time we have a meal (it doesn't say hot on the menu) the KungPo and curry were again too hot to enjoy, how do we get food from you that doesn't burn our mouths (spice wise) as we have been having food from you for years and sadly unless some of the dishes are made cooler we shalllook elsewhere

Wth two friends from Zambia we lunched on Friday 2 Nov. Unfortunately we waited nearly half an hour for dessert. eventually we spoke to the manager who said 'the bread and butter pudding was still cooking'! We would haveto wait consierably longer unless we changed to something else. Surely we should have been advised there would be a delay. I was hoping to impress my friends - I did, they were disappointed that the staff had not the courtesy tolet us know there would be a delay instead of letting us just sit and wait. It wouldn't happen in Zambia they said.

Very impressed, we haven't eaten at The College for ages and now have eaten there twice in 2 weeks.

The burger I had was exceptional... Like a ball and rare in the middle - I cannot get them like that anywhere unless I make them myself!

To prove it wasn't a 1 off for Sunday lunch I had a beautifully cooked beef cheek, with a really thick gravy... really really impressed!

This does not surprise me as this company do not look after their managers properly, so standards suffer. A friend of mine managed this pub for 2 years, but got fed up with having to defend every action he took if it wasn't 100% successful. He now manages 2 pubs in New York, where the amount of support is astounding and he feels appreciated. It's still hard work, but there is proper compensation, including a car.
Secondly, in the U.K., they talk non stop about service in these pubs, yet they make you go to the bar to order food and drink, then pay in advance, same for extra drinks. That's not service. it's what they do in fast food places. What ever happened to full table service, like they have in restaurants?
