The limited menu available before a matinee was rather down to earth and unappetising eg ‘scrubbed roots and goats’ curd’ or “corn fed chicken’s leg’, kidneys,and pollock,giving the impression they had gone for inexpensive food .There was no toast or crusty bread with the rather runny pate first course,only slices of white bread.
The puddings were not very good,especially the Eve’s pudding.
I do feel the menu needs a rethink as it is not cheap.I would not want to go again despite the pleasant -looking surroundings and view.It is a wasted opportunity.

It was our first time eating at The One Elm since the refurb last night. I opted for the special rump steak (they we even kind enough to make me a blue cheese sauce – which wasn’t on the menu) very good stuff as I’ve come to expect from The Elm!

The wife & I visited The Bell on Friday night, and was very impressed. We haven’t been for a while and it’s good to see they are still up to scratch! I have the whitebait starter and pork for main – it was gorgeousness itself!
